Why Phan Rang?

Phan Rang is one of Vietnam’s most exciting kitesurfing destinations — strong wind, warm water, a flat lagoon, waves outside, and an international kite community. The wind season runs from November to April. I teach at My Hoa Lagoon from mid-November through March.

Inside the lagoon the water is shallow and protected: the right place to learn, build confidence, and jump. Beyond it, the waves give riders room to push. The rest is the energy. Wake up, check the wind, ride, share a session, watch the sunset, and do it again.

How do I book?

Message me on WhatsApp. Tell me your level and the dates you want. I reply with the plan. Lessons, coaching, and the Vietnam trip all start the same way.

How do I pay?

Card or bank transfer. You pay when you arrive at the spot, not before you travel.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes. You should be comfortable in water that is deeper than you are tall. You do not need to be a fast swimmer. You do need to stay calm when you fall.

What if there is no wind?

We move the lesson. Kiting needs usable wind, so if the day is too light or too strong to teach safely, we reschedule. You keep the hour.

How many days to ride on my own?

The 10-hour beginner package is the one I recommend. It is enough time to show a clear progression, from first kite handling toward riding on your own. Some riders need a little more. We do not skip a level just to finish a package.

Is gear included?

Yes. Every lesson includes a kite, bar, board, harness, impact vest, water shoes, swimwear, and a radio. I am in the water with you. Bring sunscreen, a towel, and a positive attitude.

What ages do you teach?

Private lessons work best for teens and adults who can swim and follow safety instructions on the beach. If you want to book for a younger rider, send me their age first and I will tell you honestly if it is a good fit.

Zakaria Es.smaily

I’m Zakaria, an IKO-certified kitesurf instructor from Essaouira, Morocco — a town built on wind. I’ve been kitesurfing since 2019, and the ocean has been the center of my life ever since.

This season I’m based at My Hoa Lagoon in Phan Rang. I teach your first steps on the water, and I coach riders who want to jump higher, ride cleaner, or learn wave riding strapless. Sessions stay small and personal, with video feedback so you can see exactly what to change.

For me, kitesurfing is more than a sport. It’s the wind, the travel, and the people you meet on the water. I created Smaily Surf Vibes to share that — coaching, progression, and time in Vietnam.

When I’m not teaching, I’m still on the water: chasing wind and waves, exploring new spots, and working on my own riding.
